Balfour – At least three people were killed and two others seriously injured when their SUV vehicle overturned along the R23 between Heidelburg and Balfour in Mpumalanga on Sunday evening.

The deceased include two adults and a child.

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security, and Liaison Vusi Shongwe expressed concern about the carnage on provincial roads.

He appealed to motorists to always adhere to road rules.

“We need to turn the situation around on our roads to curb the needless loss of life,” MEC Shongwe said.

“We cannot continue to lose lives like this as a result of crashes.

“Motorists must play their part by obeying the rules and tolerating each other.”

Details of the deceased have been withheld until the next of kin have been informed of the tragedy.
