No politician in sight in Soweto as people come out in numbers at the limited Eskom centres to have their electricity meters recorded before the Sunday deadline.
These are the same politicians who come out in numbers, claiming to be pro-poor communities, when it is election times.
Not even one politician has taken the initiative to provide water and ablution facilities to the scores of elderly and sickly people in the long winding queues at these Eskom centres.
These poor and desperate people are on their own as Eskom takes an unrelenting hardline that the deadline won’t be extended.
Instead of seeing Ubuntu, empathy, and concern at play from the politicians who claim communities like Soweto as their constituencies, there is, in fact, a deafening silence and don’t care attitude on display.
These are the same howling busybody politicians, with no technical expertise and know-how on food quality and manufacturing, opportunistically seen daily with television cameras in tow meddling and obfuscating the identification of the scientific source for these increasing food poisoning cases.
Too many cooks spoil the broth, sadly the casualties keep on increasing as we watch hapless politicians unleashing their buffoonery, guesswork, lack of professional expertise and rhetorical conspiracy theories, and ignorant conjecture.
