Lephalale – Six people, including children, have died in a car crash along the R510 road, next to Zanzuk farm in the Lephalale Municipality, Waterberg District, in Limpopo.
Initial reports show that the head-on collision between a Toyota Hilux and a Toyota Corolla occurred at about 17:30 on Monday, (7 April 2025).
The injured were ferried to Lephalale Provincial Hospital.
Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC Violet Mathye said she was “appalled by the terrible accident that claimed six lives”.
MEC Mathye said six people, including children, from one car, lost their lives, while two from the other sedan were seriously injured and taken to Lephalale Provincial Hospital.
“On behalf of the department and the people of Limpopo, we extend our sincere condolences to the affected families and wish the injured a speedy recovery,” MEC Mathye said.
“Let’s always avoid reckless driving at all times.
MEC Mathye reiterated that her department’s emphasis was on “EDWARD”, which translates to: “Every Day Without A Road Death”.
