Ngcobo – Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Prosecutor Elona Sombulula in Ngcobo, Eastern Cape.
Sombulula, a prosecutor at the Tsolo Magistrate’s Court, was widely respected for his professionalism, integrity, and commitment to justice.
The 36-year-old prosecutor was tragically gunned down in what is believed to have been a targeted attack on the evening of Tuesday 29 April 2025) under mysterious circumstances.
The motive for the killing remains unknown and is under investigation.
On Tuesday morning, Minister Kubayi conveyed her deepest sympathies and assured the family of the department’s unwavering support.
She also reaffirmed the government’s determination to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
