Johannesburg – The Board of Boxing South Africa has suspended the professional boxing license of boxer Asemahle Wellem.

“Following several repeated transgressions and violation of sub-regulation 16 of Boxing South Africa Regulations of 2004, the Board of Boxing South Africa has resolved to place Asemahle Wellem on precautionary suspension effective from Thursday, 24 July 2025,” said a statement released by Boxing South Africa.

“Wellem’s boxing professional license is suspended, pending the outcome of formal disciplinary hearing.

“As a result of this suspension, the national title has been declared vacant.

“Further announcements about what will happen regarding the now vacant national title will be made in due course.”

However, Asemahle Wellem is billed to fight in Tanzania this weekend under “Mafia Boxing Promotions”.
