Johannesburg – The countdown to the Community Schemes Ombud Service (CSOS) Indaba 2025 is down to single digits.
The two-day Indaba will take place next week, on 23 and 24 October 2025, at The Canvas, Riversands, Fourways.
The Indaba will bring together government, industry experts, and key stakeholders to engage on this year’s theme: “Sustainable Governance: Shared Responsibility as the Cornerstone of Community Schemes.”
Chief Ombud Lesiba Seshoka says CSOS, in partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and the UN-Habitat, is ready to show up, educate, and engage residents and other stakeholders.
“We are honoured to announce the Minister of Human Settlements, Honourable Thembi Simelane, as the Keynote Speaker at the CSOS Indaba 2025,” said Seshoka.
“We will also explore sustainable solutions and collective action shaping the future of community living in South Africa.”
The CSOS Indaba is an annual conference that serves as a platform to:
- Educate on CSOS mandates, such as mandatory scheme registration via the CSOS Connect portal (unregistered schemes are illegal).
- Discuss real-world challenges, like dispute resolution and regulatory compliance.
- Foster collaboration to build inclusive, sustainable communities, aligning with South Africa’s broader human settlements goals.
What is CSOS?
The Community Schemes Ombud Service (CSOS) is a South African statutory body established under the Community Schemes Ombud Service Act of 2011.
CSOS is tasked with regulating community schemes – such as sectional title complexes, share block schemes, homeowners’ associations, and housing schemes – by promoting good governance, ensuring compliance with regulations, facilitating dispute resolution, and educating stakeholders on their rights and responsibilities.
