Johannesburg – Ten years after its first release, Monique Bingham and Black Coffee’s timeless anthem “Deep In The Bottom (Of Africa)” returns in spectacular form.

A decade later, the song that soundtracked countless sunsets, dancefloors, and memories now finds new life in a bold, forward-looking Remix EP that unites generations of house music royalty and rising stars under one rhythm.

Since its release, “Deep In The Bottom (Of Africa)” has grown into one of the most iconic house tracks of the modern era. Its music video alone has amassed over 49 million views, a testament to the song’s global resonance and its lasting imprint on dance culture across continents.

“It’s wild to think it’s already been a decade,” Monique reflects. “And even wilder to see how this track has touched the world. To celebrate, I called on some of the most innovative DJ/producers from South Africa to put their own magic on our classic.”

The remix journey begins with a melodic reimagining from Jazzworx, whose 3Step-infused groove opens the project with style and precision.

Monique’s continued commitment to amplifying the voices of Black women in electronic music also takes center stage, as she taps two powerhouse DJs redefining the sound of South Africa: DBN Gogo delivers a sleek, “private school” Amapiano remix radiating sophistication and fire, while Thandi Draai injects pure electricity with her Afro Tech reinterpretation,  a remix built for peak-time euphoria.

Rounding out the collection, Sir LSG turns in a lush, soulful deep house journey for the purists, Citizen Deep leans into his signature Afro House style with layered 3Step rhythms, and 2woBunnies close the project with a raw, streetwise “strata” Amapiano version that captures the pulse of the underground.

From 3Step to Amapiano, Afro Tech to Deep House, The Remixes Pt. 1 is more than a rework; it’s a love letter to South African dance culture, reimagined for today’s global stage.

Each remix honors the original’s legacy while pushing its spirit into the future, proving why “Deep In The Bottom (Of Africa)” remains one of the most enduring records in modern house history.

“Working with this incredible talent has been a joy,” says Monique. “It’s not just about honoring what Black Coffee and I created, it’s about bringing that same fire to today’s dancefloors and introducing a whole new generation to our music.”

The result is a celebration of movement, memory, and mastery,  where heritage meets innovation, and the spirit of Africa keeps dancing.
