Cairo – African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) (www.Afreximbank.com) has terminated its credit rating relationship with Fitch Ratings.

“This decision follows a review of the relationship, and the firm belief that the credit rating exercise no longer reflects a good understanding of the Bank’s Establishment Agreement, its mission, and its mandate,” Afreximbank said in a statement announcing the move on Friday, 23 January 2926.

Afreximbank stated that its business profile remains robust, underpinned by strong shareholder relationships and the legal protections embedded in its Establishment Agreement, which was signed and ratified by its member states.

All in a year.

2025 at Afreximbank was a year of milestones and impact that helped shape Africa’s future. We built connections, delivered impact at scale, and advanced confidence in African markets, institutions, and Africa’s ability to lead its own transformation.
