Kaizer Chiefs have parted ways with coach Gavin Hunt after a series of poor results in the DSTV Premiership,

The glamour boys have lost a lot of glisten under Hunt. Chiefs sit precariously on position 11 of the 16-team log.

Whispers of possible relation became louder mid-week after bottom of the log club Black Leopards came from a goal down to defeat Chiefs 2-1.

In a tweet on Friday, the Soweto giant club said: “Kaizer Chiefs have terminated coach Gavin Hunt’s contract with immediate effect”

The struggling club said in the interim assistant coaches Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard will take charge of the senior team.

“The club will make further announcements in due course.”

Last season, under coach Ernst Middendorp Chiefs narrowly missed out on winning the league title and finished second. This time around Chiefs only managed to get 30 points from 28 games.

Speculation is rife that former Chiefs coach Stewart Baxter is being lined up to revive the club’s fortunes.
