Just days after coach Gavin Hunt was sacked, Kaizer Chiefs were in the hunt for maximum points – but Golden Arrows had other ideas and quickly went in front.

Michael Boy Gumede scored the first goal for Arrows in the 21st minute.

Lebogang Manyama equalised for Chiefs after a bursting run by burly Willard Katsande whose cross was perfect.

Arrows again pierced Chiefs from a looping free-kick that caught defender Eric “Tower” Mathoho in two minds.

He chose to head the ball to safety while running backward and only succeeded in beating his keeper.

Arthur Zwane, the man in charge – for now, brought on young Nkosingiphile Nhlakanipho Ngcobo who quickly imposed himself on the game.

Ngcobo provided Manyama with two assists which he tucked away with aplomb.

Manyama’s hattrick saved Chiefs blushes and silenced talk of being dragged into the DSTV Premiership relegation battle.
