German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday demanded that all visitors from the EU to her country go into quarantine.
Speaking in the Bundestag lower house of parliament, the 66-year-old said: “In our country, if you come from Great Britain, you have to go into quarantine – and that’s not the case in every European country, and that’s what I would like to see.”
Merkel made her remarks a day after she received a Moderna shot as her second dose after taking the first dose of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine in April.
Merkel was critical of EU members that were not enforcing quarantine restrictions like Portugal, which is allowing British tourists entry without the need to quarantine.
France is also allowing visitors that have had two Covid-19 jabs in the UK to enter the country without going into isolation.
