Tennis ace Novak Djokovic on Wednesday made it to the Wimbledon third round with a straight-sets win over South African Kevin Anderson.

Defending champion Djokovic seemed to have problems with the grip of his footwear. The world number one slipped and fell five times on Centre Court.

However, the five-time champion survived injury scares when he fell to beat Anderson in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.

Despite the loss Anderson ranked 102nd was complimented by Djokovic who said: “Kevin is a terrific player, very dangerous on grass courts, fast courts”.

Djokovic later made light of his “close contact” with the turf saying he didn’t remember falling as many as five times.

The 34-year-old Serbian will meet either Italian veteran Andreas Seppi or American qualifier Denis Kudla in the next round.
