World heavyweight challenger Deontay Wilder is feeling hard done after his opponent Tyson Fury tested positive for Covid-19 and the much-anticipated fight called off..

“He did wrong and I am being punished,” said Wilder after the confirmation on Friday that the Gypsy King had caught the virus.

The Fury versus Wilder III had been scheduled for 25 July in Vegas. Fury has had only one Covid-19 vaccination dose.

Sportsmail reported on Thursday that Fury versus Wilder III is off after the Briton’s Covid-19 diagnosis.

Three other members of the Fury camp also tested positive.

The Gypsy King is a two-time world heavyweight champion, having held the WBC and The Ring magazine titles since defeating Deontay Wilder in 2020.

Previously he held the unified WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring titles after defeating Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.

Meanwhile, The Athletic boxing writer Lance Pugmire tweeted that the “Bronze Bomber” said to his manager Shelly Finkel that he felt it was another problem caused by Fury.

After winning arbitration over @Tyson_Fury when the champion sought to fight @anthonyjoshua instead of finishing his trilogy, @BronzeBomber is beside himself after this delay. “Again now, he did wrong and I’m the one being penalized,” Wilder told his manager Shelly Finkel.
