Kaizer Chiefs depart Wednesday for Morocco to take on Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly in the final of the coveted 2021 CAF Champions League Final.
South African coach Mosimane, who knows the danger Chiefs pose on Saturday, has described the Phefeni Glamour Boys as an “awkward” team that can beat anyone on their day.
Chiefs attacker Dumisami Zuma is ready for the final in Casablanca against Al Ahly, the defending champions.
He said: “We knew how capable we are”.
Zuma said his confidence was not misplaced because this Amakhosi team was the same one that “almost won the league.”
The single-legged final will be played at the Mohamed V Stadium.
Mercurial Chiefs striker Khama Billiat, who has recovered from injury says: “It’s a blessing to be where we are now.”
He added: “The guys really did well for us to be where we are right now and it is a great blessing for me to be a part of the team.”
Billiat is a previous CAF Cup winner with Mamelodi Sundowns under coach Mosimane.
“It’s a movie that has happened before. I’ve seen it. I’ve had this journey before,” said the talented player.
“I know how difficult it can be, and I know how great the feeling can be at the end,” Billiat told the Chiefs media department.
Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele said being in the final vindicated his decision to leave Sundowns for the Soweto giants.
“You have to give your all, and we are ready for Al Ahly. We’ve prepared well,” said Mphahlele.
