The Red Berets are not taking the ruling by the Pretoria High Court to keep the CR17 funding records sealed while lying down.
Judge Elmarie van der Schyff on Tuesday dismissed, with costs, the Economic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) matter they brought to the high court to try and unseal the CR17 records.
But the fighters insist they still want access to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s campaign donation records.
Responding to the high court ruling the EFF said it was taking the matter to the Constitutional court.

“We will directly approach the Constitutional Court on the matter of unsealing the CR17 documents,” said the EFF.
The fighters say such a move is in the “interests of ensuring that our state is not captured by people who made an investment in an individual, in order to secure their economic and political interests”.
The adverse high court judgment against the EFF comes just weeks after the Constitutional Court threw out Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s bid to appeal the invalidation of her CR17 report relating to the same matter.
