One person died and two others were left fighting for their lives after a car crash along the N12 highway in the Germiston area, Johannesburg.

Emer-G-Med paramedics said when they arrived at the crash site near the Kraft Road off-ramp shortly after 9 pm on Sunday they found that two cars had collided head-on.

The male driver of one of the motor vehicles was found to have suffered fatal injuries and was declared deceased on arrival of paramedics. The deceased driver was estimated to be 30-years-old.

Another man who was driving the other vehicle and his female passenger were found to be in a critical condition. Paramedics estimated their ages as 35 and 27 respectively.

“Advanced life support paramedics worked fervently to stabilise them on the scene before they were rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate definitive care,” said the paramedic.

Police are investigating the cause of the collision.
