The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) on Wednesday said it had swooped on land invaders and removed their “illegal structures”.

TMPD said its Land Invasion Unit conducted a joint operation with the South African Police Service and a service provider in the Fort West area, Pretoria West.

The operation was conducted to remove illegal land invaders.

TMPD said the land grabbers, who erected illegal shacks, ignored a previous notice to demolish their unlawful structures.

“They failed to comply with the notice, which resulted in a court order being issued to demolish the structures,” said TMPD.

“About 100 illegal structures were demolished during the operation this morning.

“These operations will be conducted throughout Tshwane to address the issue of illegal land occupation.

“Residents are encouraged to avoid occupying land illegally and to report those who do so.”
