A man fleeing from the police at high speed died after his car collided head-on with another vehicle along Trematon Drive in Morningside, Johannesburg.
Emer-G-Med paramedics, who were at the scene, said the dead man was estimated to have been 35 years old.
The high-impact collision happened near Norwood Road.
“The driver of one of the vehicles was found to have sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival of paramedics,” said Emer-G-Med.
“The occupant of the second vehicle, a male of approximately 40 years of age, was found entrapped in the wreckage of his vehicle.
“The Jaws-of-Life were used to cut him free, whilst advanced life support interventions were performed to stabilise him.”
Emer-G-Med said after the injured man was stabilised he was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
“Reports from the scene indicate the deceased driver was allegedly fleeing from the South African Police Services, who were attempting to stop his vehicle, when he lost control and crashed into oncoming traffic,” said Emer-G-Med
