The filming in Mexico of a Western Movie – Rust – came to an abrupt halt after American Actor Alec Baldwin shot a woman dead and wounded the film director, Joel Souza.
The dead woman has been named as cinematographer Halyna Hutchins – a 42-year-old director of photography.
Baldwin, 63, who first gained recognition appearing on the sixth and seventh seasons of the CBS primetime soap opera Knots Landing, has not been charged.
Initial police investigations indicate that the tragedy happened on Thursday afternoon after 63-year-old Baldwin discharged a prop firearm loaded with blanks on the set.
Baldwin, who has acted in many supporting roles in a variety of films, received worldwide attention and acclaim for his portrayal of former US president, Donald Trump, in Saturday Night Live.
It remains unclear if the filming of Rust will continue after the tragic accident.
