NO NEED FOR PANIC: Rand Waters assures Gauteng residents taps won't run dry
SHARE

Contrary to alarmist reports that taps in Gauteng will be dry from Monday, Rand Water has assured residents that its planned maintenance will not result in “a total cut off”.

Rand Water said it has noted with great concern reports claiming total water cuts in the Gauteng because of the planned tie-in from 15-17 November 2021.

A planned tie-in is by no means a total cut-off of water supply, explained Rand Water.

“During this period, water will be flowing into the system although this will be in reduced quantities and pressure,” said Rand Water, adding that it had issued a 21-day notice to the customers in some areas that may experience water supply shortages.

Rand Water urged consumers to continue using water sparingly.

Rand Water COO Mahlamela Mehlo says the purpose of the planned 54-hour water supply cut in parts of Gauteng is due to maintenance.
