SUSPENDED: PRASA Group CEO Zolani Kgosietsile Matthews

The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) announced on Friday that it had placed  Group CEO Zolani Kgosietsile Matthews on precautionary suspension over a possible “security breach”.

“The PRASA Board of Control at its meeting on Thursday, 18 November 2021 considered an alleged sensitive matter of security breach and other contractual obligations associated with the employment contract of the Group CEO, Mr. Zolani Kgosietsile Matthews,” said the passenger rail service in a terse statement.

“By consensus, the Board resolved that Zolani Kgosietsile Matthews should be placed on precautionary suspension to allow detailed probing of the matter at hand to be concluded in his absence.”

The Board said it will endeavour to conclude the matter expeditiously “in the best interest of all parties involved”.

The appointment of an acting Group CEO will be communicated and the Board will make sure that the daily operations of the organisation are not negatively affected.
