President Cyril Ramaphosa will on Sunday night at 8 pm update South Africa on the Covid-19 situation in the country in the wake of scientists detecting a new variant – known first as B.1.1.529 and now named omicron.
Ramaphosa’s live address to the nation follows meetings of the National Coronavirus Command Council, the President’s Coordinating Council, and Cabinet.
