A party in Katlehong to celebrate the opening of a new car wash business ended in bloodshed and tears after a shooting incident left two people dead and more than 10 others in the hospital.

“It is alleged that last night at Moleleki Extension 2 at Nobakhethwa street, a group of people was having a party during the opening of a car wash,” said Captain Kay Makhubele, Gauteng police spokesperson, on Friday.

“People were drinking alcohol, dancing to music, when an alleged BMW vehicle with unknown registration arrived.

“About four passengers … from the BMW, come out carrying guns. Without any words, they started to shoot randomly at the group of people.”

Captain Makhubele said a 29-year-old man died on the scene and another shooting 25-year-old victim died on arrival at Ramokonopi West Clinic.

He said more than 10 people with gunshot wounds were taken to the local hospital.

After the shooting the attackers made off with the victims cell phones and wallets

Police opened a case of murder, attempted murder, and armed robbery for investigation.

Although there were no arrests, Captain Makhubele said a team of experienced police officers was investigating the shooting and looking for the shooters.

Katlehong Station Commander Brig. Albertina Vesi said she was “highly concerned” about the shooting incident and appealed to anyone with information to call Katlehong Police Detectives on (011)617 3686 or alternatively 08600 10111 or my Saps App on your smart cellular phone.
