FATAL CRASH: A two-year-old toddler died when her mother lost control of their car and overturned and landed in bushes on the side of the road

A two-year-old baby girl died early Thursday morning when her mother lost control of her car and it overturned and landed in bushes near Centurion.

The toddler’s mother, who survived the crash with moderate injuries, was driving along the N1 southbound before the John Vorster off-ramp when tragedy struck.

Emer-G-Med said paramedics arrived at the crash scene just after 3 am.

The paramedics found out that the car had overturned several times before leaving the roadway.

Emer-G-Med said on further inspection, the paramedics found the toddler. She had suffered fatal injuries and she was declared dead.

“An adult female driver was treated and stabilised on the scene for moderate injuries, before being taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care,” said Emer-G-Med.

The highway was still closed at 5 am to allow the South African Police Services to conduct the required investigation.

Motorists are urged to consider alternative routes.

Police were on the scene probing the cause of the crash.
