MULTIPLE VEHICLE COLLISION AFTERMATH: Three people lost their lives and 35 others were hurt

Three people died and 35 others were injured on Wednesday afternoon in a multiple-vehicle crash along Paisley Road, near Manchester Street in Jacobs, Durban.

ALS Paramedics Medical Services said when paramedics arrived on the scene they found “total carnage”.

A haulage truck, a bus, and three cars had collided.

“Three people were found to have sustained fatal injuries and there was nothing more paramedics could do for them and they were declared deceased on the scene,” said ALS Paramedics Medical Services.

“One person was found to be severely entrapped in his vehicle and was stabilised in the vehicle while the Ethekwini Fire Department used the Jaws of life and other hydraulic equipment to try to free the man.”

Thirty-five people who sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious were stabilised on the scene before they were taken to various hospitals in Durban.

Police are still investigating the cause of the multiple vehicle crash and are yet to release the names of the deceased.
