After weeks of speculation about possible retirement, the question remains Is Lewis Hamilton back?
That is the question Formula 1 fans have been asking and Saturday’s tweet by the seven-time world champion has added to the speculation.
The 2022 Formula 1 season begins on 20 March at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Since the controversial loss to rival Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in the final lap of the last race of the season in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last December, Hamilton has been in social media hibernation.
The tweet on Saturday was the first time Hamilton tweeted since the loss. A couple of days after the loss the British racing driver was knighted in recognition of a glittering career in Formula 1.
It is common cause that the Mercedes driver feels cheated out of a record 8th Formula 1 championship title.
On Saturday Hamilton posted a picture of himself at the Grand Canyon in the United States with a cryptic caption: “I’ve been gone. Now I’m back!”.
Predictably the 37-year-old, who has not denied speculation that he was retiring, sparked excitement with many assuming he will take part in the new Formula 1 season.
