*UPDATED age correction, she was 49 and not 39. Comments from family added.
Media personality Kuli Roberts has died at the age of 49.
Her family has confirmed that the actress, journalist, and TV presenter died on Wednesday and requested privacy.
“It is with profound regret and sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of our dear daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt Nomakula ‘Kuli’ Roberts (49),” said the family in a statement posted on social media by Kuli’s sister Hlubi Mboya-Arnold.
Although speculation was that Kuli suffered a fatal heart attack, her family only confirmed that she passed away Wednesday night in Johannesburg, but did mention the cause of death.
“We humbly request that you respect our need for privacy as we go through this difficult period of grieving and healing. We ask that you please keep us in your prayers,” said the statement.
During her lengthy media career, Kuli was the fashion, and beauty editor at Drum Magazine and also a columnist of the Sunday World.
From 2004 to 2005 she was a TV Host at SABC 2. From 2008 to 2009, Kuli co-hosted the SABC1 gossip show called “The Real Goboza” for the second and third seasons.
She starred in the Netflix film Angelina.
Kuli leaves behind her two children, her beloved grandchild, her parents, and three siblings.
