Two guards were shot and wounded while on duty at business premises in Richard Carte Road, Jacobs in Durban, in the early hours of Sunday.
ALS Paramedics said they received multiple calls for assistance just after 3 am on Sunday.
“On arrival, paramedics found two guards believed to be in their late forties had been shot by unknown persons,” said ALS Paramedics.
“One guard had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body whilst a second guard had sustained a gunshot wound to his lower extremities. “
“Advanced Life Support Paramedics from ALS Paramedics, Netcare911 and EMRS worked together to stabilize the men on the scene.
“Due to the severity of injuries sustained the Netcare911 Aeromedical Helicopter was called to the scene to rapidly transport the critically injured guard to a specialist facility.”
The other guard was transported to the hospital by ALS Paramedics.
It remained unclear what the attackers were after and if police had made any arrests.
