A man died early Saturday morning and two others suffered serious injury in a head-on collision between a Toyota Fortuner and a VW along the N14 in the Kathu area, Northern Cape.
Emer-G-Med paramedics said the collision happened just after 4 am.
When paramedics arrived at the crash scene, they found three occupants of the Toyota had been ejected from the vehicle.
“On closer inspection found an adult male to be dead on arrival of paramedics whilst a female and male both aged in their 30s, suffered serious injuries,” Emer-G-Med said.
“Advanced life support paramedics worked fervently to stabilise them before they were transported by ambulances to nearby hospitals for further medical care.”
The driver of the VW was nowhere to be found and was thought to have fled the scene.
Police are investigating.
