A Monday morning high-speed collision between a car and a bakkie along the M4 in Durban North has left a man dead and two others slightly hurt.

Emer-G-Med said the collision occurred just after 9 am.

“Paramedics responded to the scene of a motor vehicle collision on the M4 Ruth First Highway near the Broadway area,” said Emer-G-Med.

“On arrival on scene, it was established that a light delivery vehicle careened across the centre median and collided with a light motor vehicle at high speed, causing it to overturn.

“Closer inspection found a male approximately thirty years of age entrapped in the wreckage of the vehicle with fatal injuries. He was declared dead on arrival of paramedics.”

Emer-G-Med said two other people from the bakkie were treated for moderate injuries. The injured pair were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
