Former TKZee member Tokollo “Magesh” Tshabalala has died.

Reports not independently verified by The Bulrushes suggest the Kwaito legend passed away Monday morning after suffering an epileptic seizure.

The 45-year-old was found dead in his bed by a family member. He had no visible injuries.

Reacting to the passing of the Kwaito legend, Johannesburg Mayor Dr. Mpho Phalatse said her multi-party government has learned “with great sadness and sorrow” of his untimely death.

Magesh was one of South Africa’s most exceptional artists of his generation and will be remembered as one of music and kwaito’s renowned artists, with unique rapping skills.

He was a key force in shaping the landscape of the South African music industry.

“Magesh will be remembered for his contribution to among other smash hits such as We Love This Place, Phalafala, and the chart-topper, Shibobo, dedicated to the 1998 Fifa World Cup,” lamented the mayor.

“On behalf of the Joburg residents and the Joburg multi-party government, I wish to convey my heartfelt and deepest sympathy to the Tshabalala family, friends, supporters, and the entire entertainment industry. May his soul rest in eternal peace and may his music live forever.”
