Johannesburg – Injured France Football star Paul Pogba will miss the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
The 29-year-old Juventus midfielder has failed to recover from a knee injury that has sidelined him all season.
Pogba hasn’t played a single official game since rejoining Juventus earlier this year, in July, from Manchester United.
His agent Rafaela Pimenta has confirmed the player won’t be able to play for France.
“Following yesterday and today’s medical review in Torino and Pittsburgh it is extremely painful to inform Paul Pogba will still need recovery time from his surgery,” Pimenta said on Monday.
“For this reason, Paul will not be able to join the Juventus squad before the World Cup break nor the french national team in Qatar.”
Pogba joins N’Golo Kanté on the injured list of French players who are going to miss the World Cup.
Kanté, the 31-year-old Chelsea midfielder, suffered the injury during his team’s 2-2 home draw with Tottenham on August 14.
He was ruled out of the World Cup after having an operation on a hamstring injury.
The Qatar 2022 World Cup begins on 20 November 2022.
