Johannesburg – The African National Congress (ANC) has joined many fans, friends, and family in mourning the untimely death of DJ Sumbody.

The Amapiano artiste and producer whose real name was Oupa John Sefoka was gunned down in Woodmead, Johannesburg, in the early hours of Sunday.

In a terse statement released late Sunday, National Spokesperson Pule Mabe said the ANC was s]joining “South Africans in mourning” the passing of renowned 30-year-old music producer, DJ, and businessman. 

“The news of ‘Monate Mpolaye ‘ Hitmaker’s passing has sent shockwaves throughout South Africa and beyond,” said Mabe.

“The performing arts industry is poorer without DJ Sumbody. We wish his family, friends and fans strength, during this difficult period.

“May they find solace in knowing that DJ Sumbody’s passing is a loss to the entire nation. May his soul rest in peace.”

Many people have taken to social media to express their condolences.
