Durban – Saturday morning’s peace and tranquility inside a convenience shop at a Petrol station, near the Pavilion Centre in Westville, was shattered when a car crashed through the front.
At least five people, who were inside the shop were hurt by the out-of-control car as it careered across the shop floor knocking over everything in its way.
The incident occurred at about 07h30.
ALS Paramedics said when they arrived on the scene they found, “total chaos as a vehicle crashed through the shop front injuring multiple employees”.
Paramedics called for more ambulances with Advanced Life Support units.


“The driver of the vehicle plus four employees have sustained injuries ranging from Moderate to Serious and were stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that they required,” said ALS Paramedics.
“At this stage, the events leading up to the collision are unknown, however, SA Police Service was on the scene and will be investigating further.”

In another incident Saturday morning, a 26-year-old man was rescued using the jaws of life after he crashed his car along the M41 in the Umhlanga Ridge.
Emer-G-Med said paramedics arrived on the scene just after 05h00.
They found that a vehicle had veered off the road and smashed into a tree.
“The driver – and only occupant – was found to be entrapped in the wreckage with critical injuries,” said Emer-G-Med.
“Advanced life support paramedics from Emer-G-Med and Netcare911 worked fervently to stabilise him whilst he was cut free using the Jaws-of-life.
“Once free he was transported rapidly by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.”
