Lionel Messi led his Argentina side to the FIFA World Cup 2022 final in Qatar after a 3-0 drubbing of Croatia.
Croatia had the better possession in the opening minutes of the semi-final at the Lusail Stadium, Doha.
However, the tables turned after Messi scored the opening goal from a penalty awarded after Croatia keeper Dominik Livakovic fouled Julian Alvarez.
Even the tireless 37-year-old Luka Modric could not lift his Croatia side and was given a rousing send-off when he was substituted near the end.
Messi’s goal was from a penalty and Alvarez’s brace secured Argentina’s place in the final against either Morocco or France, who play Wednesday.
