Durban – A car chase on Thursday morning ended in a multi-vehicle crash that left one of the two cars lodged on a security wall of a house, near the intersection of Albert Dhlomo and Edmonds roads in Glenwood.
ALS Paramedics said reports from the crash scene said the suspects were being chased when they crashed.
Onlookers watched as rescuers worked to free one of the suspects entrapped in the wreck.
When paramedics arrived on the scene they found the police on the scene, who informed them the crash site had been designated as a crime scene.
“Three people have been injured in a serious collision at the corner of Albert Dhlomo and Evans Road around 08:30,” ALS Paramedics said.
“One vehicle involved was alleged to have suspects in which was being chased for involvement in a crime.”
Paramedics assessed the scene and found that one person, a driver in one of the vehicles, was entrapped in the wreckage with severe injuries.
“Whilst Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise him the Durban Fire Department used the Jaws of Life and other hydraulic equipment to cut the man free.”
The driver and his passenger were treated on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital under police guard.
The driver of the other car involved in the collision sustained moderate injuries and was also treated on the scene, before being transported to a nearby hospital.
