Durban – A middle-aged man driving an SUV has been shot dead along the N3 Durban-Bound, before the Sherwood off-ramp.

The deadly drive-by shooting on the eve of the Reconciliation Day holiday occurred at about 13h30 on Thursday, (15 December 2022).

First responders, Emer-G-Med paramedics, and ALS paramedics responded to the scene of a shooting.

On arrival at the scene, paramedics said they found a Mercedes Benz riddled with bullet holes.

From the bullet hole, paramedics said they got the impression that the assailant(s) used a “high calibre” weapon.

“The driver and only occupant of the vehicle a male believed to be approximately 40 years of age, was found to have sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival of paramedics,” said Emer-G-Med.

The South African Police Service officers were in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigation.

No arrests have yet been made.
