Reacting to the artiste’s death earlier Saturday, the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal said it was joining the entire entertainment industry and millions of people across the country in paying condolences to the family of “Mampintsha”.

“In particular, we are encouraging the people of KwaZulu-Natal and leaders of faith to pray for his wife Bongekile ‘Babes Wodumo’ Maphumulo, and their son during this time of mourning,” the ANC said.

“We extend our deepest condolences to West Link, Afrotainment, and many of his business associates in the entertainment industry.

“The pain is immeasurable across the province and the country as a whole. We hope God will help all of them to amass enough strength and courage to deal with this sad loss.”

In memory of Big Nuz group member Mandla "Mampintsha" Maphumulo, SAMRO sends heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and industry colleagues.

The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal said Mampintsha was a gifted musician who left an indelible mark on the country.

“He represented this province with distinction both as a musician and as an ambassador for many campaigns pioneered by the ANC-government over the years.

“What saddens us is that days ago Mampitnsha was in his usual jovial mood because of Big Nuz’s lineup of events.”

He scooped many Awards – in the process helped generate plenty of interest from national and international music fans.

The ANC said Mampintsha was a symbol of hope to many aspiring Gqom artists, a genre that has grown in leaps and bounds in terms of popularity and inspiration in recent times.

“Our deployee in government, the MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Cde Amanda Bani-Mapena will keep in touch with the family and other key stakeholders in the entertainment industry as we move forward,” the ANC said.

“May the Departed Soul Rest in Peace.”
