Kathu – South Africa’s road carnage continued to rise Friday after a man was found dead after his car crashed into a tree when it veered off the N14, in Kathu in the Northern Cape on Friday.
Emer-G-Med said at about 12h30 paramedics responded to the scene of a single motor vehicle crash on the N14.

“On arrival at the scene a sedan was found to have left the roadway and crashed into a tree,” said Emer-G-Med.
“Closer inspection found a male approximately thirty years of age to have sustained fatal injuries and he was declared dead on arrival of paramedics.
“Three men as well as a five-year-old boy suffered minor injuries and were treated and stabilised on the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care.”
In another incident, a man inspecting his car tyres on the side of the road was hit by a passing vehicle and left fighting for his life.
The near-fatal incident occurred along the N14 in Centurion at about 09h30 on Friday.
Emer-G-Med said paramedics found the injured male driver in critical condition.
“Emergency Care Practitioners worked fervently to stabilise him before he was airlifted by the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to a specialist facility for the definitive care that he required,” Emer-G-Med said.
Emergency responders also attended to a Friday night shooting incident at a fuel station along Chris Hani Road in Greenwood Park, Durban North, KwaZulu-Natal.
Emer-G-Med said: “Reports from the scene are that two men aged approximately thirty years of age were treated for gunshot injuries before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care, one of them was in critical condition.”
The shooting was under investigation by the South African Police Service.
