Johannesburg – The Gauteng Provincial Government, together with the City of Ekurhuleni will on Friday, 30 December 2022, host a joint memorial service in honour of those that lost their lives following the Boksburg LP gas tanker explosion.
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and Ekurhuleni Mayor Tania Campbell will join the bereaved families as they pay their respects to the deceased.
The tragic incident in which the tanker exploded under a railway bridge in Boksburg on Saturday, Christmas Eve, 24 December 2022, led to at least 27 fatalities, and many injuries.
The explosion affected the OR Tambo Memorial hospital and houses in the area.
The memorial service will be held as follows:
