Italian football manager Antonio Conte and Tottenham Hotspur FC (Club announcement – Antonio departs | Tottenham Hotspur) have parted ways by mutual consent.
The English Premier League side linked to a failed mega sponsorship deal with South Africa Tourism, said Sunday night: “We can announce that Head Coach Antonio Conte has left the Club by mutual agreement.
“We achieved Champions League qualification in Antonio’s first season at the club.
“We thank Antonio for his contribution and wish him well for the future.”
Cristian Stellini will take the team as Acting Head Coach for the remainder of the season, along with Ryan Mason as Assistant Head Coach.
Daniel Levy, Tottenham Chairman said: “We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place. We all need to pull together. E
“Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our Club and amazing, loyal supporters.”
Conte’s recent rant about the club and players had more or less signaled his departure was imminent.
Last week on Friday, newly appointed South Africa Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille announced that the proposed R900 million SA Tourism sponsorship deal with Tottenham Hotspur would no longer go ahead.
