Johannesburg – Musician and producer Bongani Fassie is lucky to be alive after he fought off a panga-wielding assailant in Randburg.

The son of the late renowned singer Brenda Fassie suffered a black eye and deep cuts on his arm as he fended off the attack.
Bongani, who is recovering from the attack, told ZiMoja that he was attacked a few days ago by a man in a hoodie at a traffic light in Randburg, Johannesburg.
I dont know who the man is. I just saw him come at me with a panga. I was driving with a friend with my window down, the musician was quoted as saying.
The guy was aiming for my chest but I grabbed him, tried to disarm him and he butchered my arm.
He cut me, but I continued to fight.
The award-winning musician said he was in fear of his life.
