Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola on Wednesday night taught his prodigy Mikel Arteta a harsh lesson on how to win the league when his side thumped Arsenal 4-1.
The Gunners still top the log, but City have two games in hand.
Kevin De Bruyne scored twice with John Stones and Erling Haaland also on target for City.
Holding pulled one back for the struggling Gunners late on before Haaland, denied four times by Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale earlier in the match, sealed a memorable night with his 49th City goal.
Afterward, Guardiola said: “Our destiny is in our hands”.
His former assistant and now highly rated Arsenal manager Arteta said his side were not at the races and conceded City were the better side on the day.
“We didn’t play at our level,” Arteta said.
