The numbers are out – the Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia fight generated over US$100 million in pay-per-view television subscriptions.
Davis – a Floyd Mayweather prodigy – won the weekend fight with a seventh-round body shot KO.
Keith Idec of BoxingScene.com said the revenue from ticket sales was the fifth largest in Las Vegas history at $22.8 million.
Mayweather Promotions CEO and Davis’ advisor Leonard Ellerbe Twitted: “Terrific promotion, major props to Gervonta and his team and Ryan Garcia and his team,” Ellerbe wrote.
“Props to Showtime Boxing and (Showtime Sports Executive) Stephen Espinoza continuing to show why they’re industry leaders for putting on the biggest events for the fans around the world. Numbers don’t lie.”
Garcia tweeted: “Thank you to all the fans. Without you guys this can’t happen.”
