Durban – Onlookers were left shocked and traumatised on Monday after a man tried to run over a woman before shooting and wounding her outside a primary school in the Berea West area.
Onlookers said they saw a man – believed to be the woman’s husband -attempt to run her over with his car before crashing into a precast concrete fence.
“He then alighted from his vehicle, drew a pistol, and fired several shots at her, striking her, before he fled,” an eyewitness said.
Responders Emer-G-Med Paramedics, ALS Paramedic Services, and Mobi Claw were at the scene of the shooting at about 14:30.
“On arrival at the scene, an adult female was found with serious injuries. Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilise her before she was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care,” Emer-G-Med said.
ALS Paramedics said woman was taken to Ahmed Al Khadi Private Hospital, where a trauma team was awaiting.
 IOL is reporting that the suspected shooter was arrested by police in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.
