Johannesburg – Sport, Arts and Culture Deputy Minister Nocawe Mafu will on Sunday, (4 June 2023), lead the Netball World Cup Trophy tour to Mpumalanga.

The deputy minister is leading the trophy tour in collaboration with the Mpumalanga provincial government, and Netball South Africa.

The tour is part of the build-up toward this year’s Netball World Cup (#2023NWC).

The 2023 NWC Trophy tour seeks to create awareness and galvanise the entire society to rally behind the Spar Proteas for the 2023 Netball World Cup scheduled from 28 July – 6 August 2023 in Cape Town.

Currently touring the province of Gauteng, the Netball World Cup trophy will touch down at Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, where it will be officially handed for a 5-day tour across the province.
The trophy arrived in the country on the 25th of May 2023.

The Deputy Minister will be joined by Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation MEC, Ms. Morakane Mosupyoe; MEC for Culture, Sports, and Recreation, Thandi Shongwe; and Netball South Africa President, Ms. Cecelia Molokwane

The official handover of the trophy will take place Sunday morning at the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport.
