Pretoria – One person died, and three others were seriously hurt when their car crashed into a tree in Silverton.

Emer-G-Med said paramedics attended to the “serious motor vehicle accident” along Pretoria Road “in the early hours of Friday morning”.

Emer-G-Med added: “On arrival on the scene it was established that a light motor vehicle collided with a tree.

“Three people sustained serious injuries with some being entrapped in the vehicle.

“A fourth occupant, an adult male, sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival of paramedics.”

Emer-G-Med said with the assistance of the Tshwane Fire Department and Gauteng Provincial ambulance service the patients were carefully extricated, treated, and transported to hospital.

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE: Medics prepare to airlift an injured man. Two people were in the car when it crashed into a tree in Edenvale, Johannesburg late on Friday

In another crash late Friday night, two men were left entrapped in the wreckage after they crashed their car into a tree along Major Miller Avenue in Edenvale, Johannesburg.

Emer-G-Med said paramedics attended to the entrapped men at about 23:00.

“Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilise the injured before they were cut free from the car using the Jaws-of-life,” Emer-G-Med said.

One of the men had suffered severe injuries.

“Due to the severity of his injuries a decision was made to airlift him with the assistance of the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to a specialist facility for the definitive care that he required,” Emer-G-Med said.
