Italy’s former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, the billionaire media magnate, has died aged 86.

Reports from Italy said the former owner of AC Milan passed away on Monday.

Italy’s longest-serving premier, despite scandals over his sex-fueled parties and allegations of corruption, had been unwell.

He was hospitalised on Friday. It was the second time in months that Berlusconi was in the hospital for treatment of chronic leukemia.

Over the years, the populist politician suffered from heart diseases, prostate cancer and was hospitalised for Covid-19 in 2020.

Berlusconi’s Mediaset television network announced his death with a smiling photo of the man on its homepage and the headline: “Berlusconi is dead.”
