Durban – Gunfire sounded along Edwin Swales Drive Tuesday morning and it has since emerged that a woman has been shot dead.
“A woman has been killed in a shooting incident on Edwin Swales Drive, before South Coast Road, just after 06h30 on Tuesday morning,” ALS Paramedics Medical Services said.
When paramedics arrived on the scene the police were already in attendance.
“Paramedics quickly assessed the female believed to be in her early thirties who had sustained a gunshot wound to her head, however, she showed no signs of life and she was declared deceased on the scene,” ALS Paramedics said.
“At this stage the events leading up to the incident are unknown.”
No arrests have been reported and the South African Police Service is investigating the fatal shooting of the woman who has not been named.
