Orkney – Rape accused 43-year-old Tebogo Sepale, a Councillor at the Matlosana Local Municipality, in the North West, will remain behind bars until his next court appearance next month.
On Monday, Sepale – who is accused of raping two teenage boys – was not in the Orkney Magistrate’s Court on Monday when his matter was postponed.

National Prosecution Authority North West Spokesperson Henry Mamothame said the accused’s attorney appeared on his behalf as he was absent from court for unknown reasons.
The court postponed the case against Sepale to 7 July 2023, for further investigations and bail application.
The state said it intends to oppose his bail application.
Meanwhile, the state said it was awaiting the conclusion of investigations to possibly add more charges against the accused.
Disgraced Councillor Sepale is facing 11 provisional charges, two for statutory rape, three for the violation of a child with consent, one for manufacturing pornographic material, four for rape, and one for sexual intimidation
A police report indicates that the Klerksdorp Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, was investigating a case of crimen injuria and two separate counts of statutory rape.
The alleged crimes were reported at Kanana Police Station, respectively.
In one of the cases, the suspect allegedly shared a nude picture of his private parts with the complainant.
The suspect is also being probed for two counts of statutory rape reported to the police by the victim’s parents.
The parents of two boys aged 15 and 17 laid the complaint on Saturday 6 May 2023.
The Councillor will remain in police custody until his next court appearance.
